Indigenous Culture

Jalisco is among the most economically and culturally important states in Mexico due to its abundant natural resources, but also its long history and culture. In modern times the most spoken indigenous languages are Huichol and Nahuati, with over 23 thousand people speakers of each. The Huichol and the Nahuas are still represented, and others from other territories, such as Purépechas and Mixtecs.
