Filma Jalisco Cash Rebate Program
Reasons to choose Jalisco for your Mexico based film production keep growing, and this one just might be the most compelling. Filma Jalisco was launched in January of 2023 with the intention of making this state a film production hub in Latin America. Jalisco offers world class infrastructure, proximity to Los Angeles and other major US cities, and an astonishing diversity of filming locations from which to choose. Now this western Mexican state offers one of the most advanced film industry promotion policies in the country. A budget of 100 million pesos has been allocated, and by partnering with us you can realize huge savings. Qualifying categories include: Feature films, fictional and documentary and/or non-scripted series, music videos, TV commercials, and post production and visual effects. A minimum investment of only 500,000 pesos (approximately USD33,000) is required depending on the project category, with a cash reimbursement of up to 40% of the direct costs of production and 20% of logistical expenses. The Cash Rebate in the Jalisco Film industry is a public policy initiative that was created by the state government in January 2023. Its official name is Filma Jalisco and it is administered by the Jalisco State Entertainment Agency. Its purpose is to promote production in the region by providing financial incentives to producers of feature films, tv commercials, music videos and other audiovisual works who employ Jalisco based suppliers for their Mexico based projects.
If you currently operate outside Mexico and you are prepared to use Jalisco based locations and suppliers of audiovisual related services for your film, TV, or video production, you can benefit from the Filma Jalisco government filming incentive.
Film and television producers and directors who partner with us to shoot or post produce in Jalisco, can realize up to a 40% reimbursement of their direct production costs. A reimbursement of half that amount can be obtained for the costs of indirect (logisitical) services provided in in state.
Use this form to tell us about your planned Mexico film or video production. We will conduct a preliminary assessment at no cost, based on the selection criteria. We will let you know if your project qualifies, and explain how partnering with us will allow you to benefit from the Cash Rebate Program. We will create a timetable that takes into account the dates on which The Internal Valuation Committee of the Film Directorate in Jalisco meets to decide on which projects will be approved, subject to remaining availability of the 100 million peso budget that has been allocated.
